Ask: Temple Lights, a travel agency specializing in Kyoto tours, required a website to attract history buffs, art lovers, and culture enthusiasts aged 30–65. The site needed to capture the city’s deep cultural heritage and provide an engaging platform for promoting immersive experiences centered on Kyoto’s art, traditions, and historical landmarks.
Solution: The design concept, “Silent Noise – Opposites at Peace,” reflects Kyoto’s unique balance of vibrant energy and serene tradition. The visual language contrasts muted, blurred backgrounds—symbolizing the quiet, contemplative side of the city—with bold, saturated colours that represent its lively cultural moments. A structured grid system provides order and clarity, guiding users through the content with ease.
The colour palette is thoughtfully chosen: saturated pink evokes cherry blossoms and natural beauty, imperial gold/mustard references the city’s historic palaces and luxurious crafts, while deep muted greens embody the tranquility of Kyoto’s gardens and temples. Bright yellow adds warmth and joy, harmonizing with traditional reds to convey the rich cultural tapestry of Kyoto’s temple shrines. Overall, the design captures the harmonious coexistence of opposites that defines the city’s character.
